Sheer Terror Wins Open As Rosecroft Meet Begins

Harness racing at Rosecroft Raceway

Sheer Terror rolled to the early lead from his outside post and made every pole a winning one in the $16,667 Open Handicap Pace featured on opening day of the fall meet at Rosecroft Raceway on Monday, Sept. 15.

Reunited with driver Jonathan Roberts, outside post seven assignee Sheer Terror looped a two-wide Babes All In (Jared Moyer) on the first turn before clearing stablemate On The Cards N (Johnathan Ahle) at the end of a :26.1 first quarter. From there, Sheer Terror was in complete control, posting middle splits of :54.4 and 1:22.1 before keeping his stablemate a half-length at bay in 1:50.2 for his third straight win and 20th lifetime victory. Babes All In rallied for third, another 5-1/2 lengths behind, after retreating into mid-field.

Coming off back-to-back wins at Ocean Downs last month, Sheer Terror paid $4.40 to win as the 6-5 favourite. The five-year-old Always B Miki-Economy Terror gelding has now won nine of his 26 starts this year. Willard Reynolds trains Sheer Terror for Mark Howard of Federalsburg, Maryland.

The win was one of three on the 13-race card for Roberts while Roger Plante Jr. led all drivers with four wins to open the meet.

Live harness racing at Rosecroft resumes on Thursday, Sept. 18. The 13-race card kicks off with a Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace. First post is 7:15 p.m.

The 2025 fall harness racing meet at Rosecroft features live racing on Monday and Thursday evenings through Dec. 18.
