Typhoon Banner N (Greg Merton) prevailed once again in the featured $23,611 Open Pace at Tioga Downs on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Rio (Braxten Boyd) took the lead to the quarter in :26.2.  Typhoon Banner N and driver Greg Merton then took control with a lap to go and led to the half in :56.  Prairie Rocknroll (Aaron Byron) pulled alongside Typhoon Banner N all the way down the backstretch, with Typhoon Banner N maintaining the lead to three quarters in 1:23.4.

As they reached the stretch, Rio attempted a late rally but Typhoon Banner N was too strong and won in 1:52. Rio was next best, 1-1/4 lengths off the leader, with Livonjaxandqueens (Kyle DiBenedetto) finishing third.

Typhoon Banner N is nine-year-old gelding by Bettors Delight.  He is trained by Joe Bongiorno for owners Philip Steinberg, JB Racing, and Barbara Bongiorno Stable.  The win was his fourth this season, and he now has 29 career victories in 100 starts with earnings in excess of $674,000.

Live harness racing returns to Tioga Downs on Thursday, Sept. 18 with a first post time of 6:15 p.m.
