Don't Believe It? Just Watch!

The owners and the trainer remained the same, but a different horse and driver made their way to the winner's circle after an impressive tally in the top class at Northside Downs on Saturday, Sept. 13.
While Hugh Heff has definitely enjoyed the spotlight for most of the past two seasons in North Sydney, stablemate Dontblvmejustwatch and driver Mark Pezzarello showed they might have something to say about crowning Hugh Heff as the King of Cape Breton.
In Saturday's $1,700 Winners Over feature, Dontblvmejustwatch paced confidently through panels of :28, :57.1, 1:26 to front the field by six-plus lengths. That bottom-out-the-field strategy paid off handsomely as a :30.3 final quarter sealed the deal for Dontblvmejustwatch, who stopped the clock in 1:56.3 — his best individual mile time since August 2022.
Revenant (Shawn Lynk) couldn't offer much a challenge from the pocket trip and finished second, nearly five lengths in arrears, with favoured Hugh Heff unable to mount a serious challenge for driver Randy Getto to round out the top trio.
Dana Getto trains Dontblvmejustwatch, an eight-year-old Hes Watching - Hudson Gal gelding, for owners Randy Getto of New Waterford, Wayne Hardy of Sydney and Susan MacSween of River Ryan, N.S. The pacer now sports 28 career victories with more than $105,000 in earnings.
Pezzarello himself enjoyed a solid day at the office, finishing no worse than third (4-4-1) in his nine afternoon appearances. The veteran reinsman is on pace for his best numbers since shifting his base of operations to Nova Scotia back in 2017.
