Elizabeth McLaren-Davies Passes

In loving memory of Elizabeth McLaren-Davies

Longtime Standardbred groom Elizabeth “Liz” McLaren-Davies, 72, of Guelph, Ont., passed away on Sept. 9, 2025, just two days shy of celebrating 37 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Robin.

Liz was the proud and loving mother of Dylan (Emily), cherished sister to Kate McLaren, and a devoted aunt to Will, Vita and Christina. She was predeceased by her parents, Pearl and Jim, and her brothers, Willy and Chris.

Liz was outgoing, fun and the undeniable life of every party. She had an army of friends and a warmth that drew people in. Generous to a fault, she gave her love freely — and often with a glass of wine in hand and her dog, Annie, by her side.

A life well led by a lady well loved. Liz leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love and unforgettable memories. She will be deeply missed.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at the ANAF Club, located at 32 Gordon St., Guelph, ON, on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Wellington in memory of Liz would be appreciated by the family.

Liz was a fabulous woman with dancing eyes, a dazzling smile and a personality that captivated everyone. I first met Liz about 50 years ago and I thought she was a movie star . She had an aura about her. Once you met Liz , you never forgot her. She radiated beauty both inside and out. Liz was the eternal optimist who loved her family, loved life, loved the horse racing community and loved to have a good time. When Liz got together with Gay and my sister Sandra it was 'The Three Amigos' and they blazed a trail few could match. They knew how to have fun and sometimes caused a bit of 'mayhem ' but always in a good way. Now, one of the Amigos has left this mortal Earth. Sad indeed!

Most sincere condolences to Liz's husband Robin, to her son Dylan ( Emily ), to her sister Kate and the rest of her family with the passing of this amazing woman. May Liz rest in peace.
