P L Ozzy Romps In Pop-Up Series Final

P L Ozzy was superior as expected after his prior start’s track record performance as he sailed to victory in the $16,000 Pop-Up Series Final on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Grand River Raceway.
Samuel Fillion timed the gate with the 1-9 favourite and had him leading in a flash. P L Ozzy then delivered the fractions of :26.1, :54.3, and 1:22.4 and needed little encouragement from Fillion to sprint 3-1/2 lengths clear down the lane in a 1:51 victory. Ideal Perception (Anthony Haughan) finished second over Prestige Seelster (Daryl Thiessen).
P L Ozzy extended his winning streak to three after breaking the record for an aged pacing stallion at Kawartha Downs on Aug. 23 and the overall aged pacing mark at Grand River on Sept. 3. The seven-year-old son of Sunshine Beach-Taylorlane Action is trained by Amanda Riley for owners Bryn Campbell of Port Hope, Ont. and Barry McClennan of Cavan, Ont. He has won 31 of 106 lifetime outings and has earned $366,127.
The Pop-Up Series was for pacing horses and geldings that started for a purse of $6,000 or less in their last start.
