Mach Seelster Blasts To Plainridge Feature Victory

Mach Seelster

From post seven in the last race of the day, Mach Seelster went all the way after sweeping the field in the $27,778 Trackmaster 84 featured pace at Plainridge Park on Tuesday, Sept. 9.

Mach Seelster left like a rocket for Nick Graffam and stepped off solid fractions of :26.3, :55.3 and 1:23.2 to three-quarters. Then, after turning back a challenge from Dance Monkey (Drew Monti) as they made their way around the last turn, Mach Seelster held off Beach Watch (Mitchell Cushing) and Odds On Lauderdale (Matty Athearn) in the lane to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:52.3. Beach Watch edged out Odds On Lauderdale for place.

The win was the fourth of the year in 20 tries for Mach Seelster ($13) and owner/trainer Domenico Longobardi. The five-year-old son of Check Six-Synergy Seelster is now 11-for-77 lifetime with $227,917 in bankroll.

In the $25,000 Trackmaster 80 pace, the field was scratched down to a six-horse event. Hes Coming On (Cushing) took the lead passing the quarter, led the entire race from there, and won by 5-1/2 lengths in a new career mark of 1:51.3. Hes Coming On ($4.20) is owned by George Anthony Jr. and trained by Julia Eaton.

Nick Graffam led all drivers with two wins on the card while 11 different trainers each won one race apiece. With those wins, Graffam moved back into a tie for first place with Brett Beckwith in the drivers' standings.

Live racing will resume at Plainridge Park on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. with a $2,148 carryover in the Wicked Hi-5 wager in the sixth race.
