Ken Hanover Back In Action In Philly Qualifier

Ken Hanover, near or at the top of his class of the Free-For-All pacers for months on end now, was sent out to qualify at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Tuesday, Sept. 9 and the millionaire son of Captaintreacherous showed he retained serious form with a victory in 1:50.4.
Some folks may not remember that Ken Hanover's trainer, Roland (Polie) Mallar, has more than 1,000 career driving victories (including 235 in 1986), and it was Mallar who was behind his prime pupil as he went right down the road in :29.1, :56.3 and 1:24.1 en route to the very fast triumph. The last quarter of :26.3 catches the eye – but so does the fact that he covered his last three-quarters in 1:21.3 in a qualifier.
Ken Hanover, owned by Mallar in partnership with Patrick Leavitt, William Jordan and Dennis Osterholt, has a 2025 record of 9-6-0-2, with seasonal earnings of $346,339. Among his biggest victories of this campaign are the Battle of Lake Erie and divisions of the Brower and McKee Memorials. His last start was on Aug. 16 in the Always B Miki Invitational at Pocono Downs, where he finished third.
