Les Ford Passes

Les Ford, the popular editor of the Harness Horse magazine and a member of the Communicators Corner at the Harness Hall of Fame, passed away recently in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania at the age of 84.

Ford worked at Harness Horse for 38 years, eventually rising to the position of editor of the respected weekly magazine. Ford was also famous for his Trotting Tours, in which he led groups going to Europe to watch the continent's most prestigious races.

"I just loved him," remembered Eileen Connors, who worked for Ford at the Harness Horse for many years. "He had such a great, dry sense of humour. And he was wonderful to work with – he took the time to teach me a lot of things about the sport." The last cover of the Harness Horse featured a picture by Connors of racing at Hollyhurst Training Center.

Ford was elected into the Communicators Corner in 1993. After retiring, he lived in the Harrisburg area, where Harness Horse was published.

Services will be on Saturday at the Paxton Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11:00 a.m.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the friends and family of Les Ford.
