Harness Racing Returns To Flamboro Thursday

Harness racing returns to Flamboro Downs on Thursday, Sept. 4 with a seven-race program set to kick off the new meet at 6:35 p.m.
The meet opener features a $10,000 conditioned optional claiming trot in race six, headlined by the six-year-old Crazed-Showmeyourmuscles gelding Marvin Hagler, a regular Preferred competitor on Ontario's B track circuit with 30 career wins and nearly a quarter-million dollars in earnings. The 2-1 morning line choice has drawn the advantageous inside post with Brett MacDonald taking the reins for trainer Mark MacQuarrie. His main contenders include Katie MacNeil trainee Johnny Buckshot with Garrett Rooney catch-driving from post five and the streaking outside eight-hole starter Deliciousstone DK, racing with a $25,000 claiming tag in his Flamboro debut for trainer Dominic Gladu, with Canada's leading driver Austin Sorrie aboard.
Sorrie will look to pick up where he left off at Flamboro in May, after leading all drivers during the first portion of the track's 2025 racing year with 81 wins, 20 more than runner-up Samuel Fillion.
Jodie Cullen, who does not have any opening day entries, is the leading trainer at Flamboro so far this year with 42 victories while Francis Guillemette trails in second place by just seven wins and has five Thursday starters at the Dundas, Ont. half-mile oval.
Flamboro will race on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays through the end of September. Starting in October, the schedule shifts to Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday race days through the end of December, with the exceptions of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. First post time will be 6:25 p.m. for all race days starting on Sept. 6. To view Flamboro's current 2025 race date schedule, click here.
