Ragtime Red Wins First Open In Harrington Debut

David Banks' Ragtime Red took her fourth straight victory with a 1:53.4 mile as she made her first start at Harrington Raceway in the $24,658 Fillies and Mares Open Pace on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The lone filly in the field versus older mares, driven by Allan Davis, led the group of eight pacers through fractions of :28, :57.2, and 1:25.3 and prevailed by 1-1/4 lengths over Grandeur Seelster (Montrell Teague). Incaseyoudidntknow (Jim Morand) completed the top three.
Ragtime Red, a homebred Getitoffyourchest-Red High Heels filly, has won 13 of 20 starts in her career and passed her first test versus open mares with flying colours. She has had most of her success in Maryland Sire Stakes action and has amassed $287,558 in earnings. Donald Brittingham trains the filly.
Davis took both halves of the daily double before his feature victory, then made it a grand slam with a win in the 11th race.
Trainer Andrew Stafford had a triple on the card, two of which were driven by his brother Art Stafford Jr. Andrew Stafford took his first win as Pat Berry piloted Barbados Babe ($15.60) to victory in the seventh race, and the Staffords combined for back-to-back wins in Races 9 and 10 with Feed The Fire ($8.60) and Win With Lynnly ($5.40), respectively. Andrew Stafford has won 29 races this season, his highest total since 2014, and he is three wins away from topping his previous best year.
Art Stafford Jr. won two other races on the 14-race card and ended the day with four victories.
