Enola Stands Alone In Tioga Open Trot

Enola showed resolve in the featured $20,833 Open Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday, Aug. 16, digging deep to best her male rivals in the track's top class.
Enola (Mike Merton) and Purple Lord (Jim Pantaleano) took turns on the lead early, with Enola yielding to Purple Lord through a :27 opener before retaking down the homestretch the first time. She was never bested from there, trotting through middle splits of :56 and 1:24.3 before repelling Purple Lord late to win by half a length in 1:54.1. P Chico (Greg Merton) finished third.
A five-year-old mare by Resolve, Enola is owned by David Livinsky and Go For Glory Stable while trained by Rob Harmon. She now has 16 career victories, three of those coming this season, and she returned $7 to her supporters here.
Over the nine races on the night, nine different drivers found the winner's circle with only one trainer — Cameron Capone — finding the winner's circle twice after a three-win performance on Friday.
Live harness racing returns to Tioga on Sunday, Aug. 17 with a first post time of 1 p.m.
