Liberty Style, Odds On Monetary Score In NYSS

New York Sire Stakes two-year-old pacing fillies visited Batavia Downs on Thursday, Aug. 14 to vie for $150,685 in purse money in two divisions, and both winners did it in gate-to-wire fashion.
The first division went for $74,658, and Liberty Style (American Ideal-Fly In Style) lived up to her favouritism.
Kevin Cummings pushed Liberty Style off the gate to the lead and got to the :27.3 quarter on top. With the field loosely following, Liberty Style continued to dictate the pace to the half in :57 and three-quarters in 1:26.1 with Odds On Enigma (Matt Kakaley) now right on her back. The fillies rounded the bend and headed for home, and Liberty Style paced smartly to the line while holding off a game Odds On Enigma by a half-length to win in 1:55.1. Ideal Beauty Queen (Braxten Boyd) finished third.
Liberty Style ($5.40) took her third NYSS leg, improving her career record to three-for-six and her bankroll to $163,427. She is owned by Bonnie Benson and her trainer, Andrew Stafford.
In the $76,027 second split, Odds On Monetary (Huntsville-All On Top Hanover) was full of pace and a well-rated winner. Matt Kakaley sent Odds On Monetary to the front and settled on the lead with ease, and the filly marched through fractions of :28.4, :57.4, and 1:26.4. After they came out of the final turn, the pocket-sitting Existential (Leon Bailey) and fast-closing Savage Cindy (Tyler Buter) both did their best to close the gap, but Odds On Monetary cruised to a measured half-length win in 1:55.3. Savage Cindy was second over Existential.
The points and earnings leader for this division, Odds On Monetary ($3.80) improved her record to three wins in five starts. She has earned $174,306 for trainer Travis Alexander and owner Odds On Racing.
There were also three races on the card for rookie filly pacers.
Patriot Miss ($2.10) stayed perfect as she pushed her undefeated record to five wins in the final of three $27,397 Excelsior Series divisions for rookie filly pacers. The daughter of American Ideal-Big City Betty was untouchable on the front, maintaining a loose lead for Buter through sectionals of :29, :58, and 1:26.3 and cruising to a 3-1/2-length victory in 1:56. Twenty Seven (Cummings) was second-best, followed by All Star Lady (Mark MacDonald). Patriot Miss has now earned $68,31 for trainer Rollie Mallar and owner Jeffrey Nanna.
The first Excelsior Series division was won in 1:56.2 by Long Shore (American Ideal-Butchie Beach, $4.20), who was driven by Matt Kakaley and trained by Joe Pavia Jr. for owners Vincent Ferriero Jr., Dominic Pavia, Eric Prevost, and Todd Froncione.
Onaorchardhunt (Huntsville-Park N Orchard, $3.30) took the second in 1:56.2 for driver Tyler Buter, trainer Nifty Norman, and owner Matthew Bassett.
Live racing resumes at Batavia Downs on Saturday, Aug. 16 with post time at 6 p.m.
