Miki And Minnie Maintains Lead In Harness Racing Poll
Miki And Minnie maintained her lead in the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll for the second week in a row while Prince Hal Hanover, whose win in the Grade 2 Carl Milstein Memorial this past Saturday made him the richest horse in harness racing this season, was the lone fresh face in the Top 10 for the Week 9 edition, released on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
A three-year-old pacing colt, Prince Hal Hanover captured the Milstein at MGM Northfield Park two weeks after winning the Grade 1 Adios at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Earlier in July, he was first-placed-second in the Grade 1 Meadowlands Pace. He joined the poll’s Top 10 at No. 7 this week. Prince Hal Hanover has earned $797,015 ($581,633 USD) in 10 starts this year to lead the sport in purses.
The six horses ahead of Prince Hal Hanover were unchanged from last week, with Miki And Minnie leading the way at No. 1 for the second week in a row. Miki And Minnie was the only horse in last week’s Top 10 to race, winning the third round of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
She was followed in the rankings by Sylvia Hanover, Louprint, Nordic Catcher S, Twin B Joe Fresh and Yo Tillie.
Miki And Minnie, Yo Tillie and Prince Hal Hanover are scheduled to race this weekend as part of the Sun Stakes Saturday card at Mohegan Pennsylvania’s Pocono Downs. Also slated to race there are No. 8 Super Chapter and No. 10 Conversano.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, which will continue weekly on Wednesdays through the Grand Circuit season, does not determine year-end awards. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus U.S. Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
