Atlantic Sires Stakes Trotters Up Next

The trotters will be in the spotlight on Wednesday evening, Aug. 13 during Old Home Week at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as the Atlantic Sires Stakes returns for two and three-year-old diagonal-gaiters.
The 12-dash presentation gets underway at 6 p.m. (ADT) and features $13,380 divisions for the rookie trotters and $12,900 splits for the sophomore trotters.
The Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old trotters opens the stakes action in race two with a field of six. Little Louis is the 5-2 morning line favourite from post five for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Kuri White. The homebred son of E L Rocket-Got With Her was a strong winner in his latest start, in the Sires Stakes at Inverness Raceway, for owner East Coast Captains of Cornwall, P.E.I., and will face off with rivals including Roseys EL Girl (Jason Hughes) from post four and Emberlees Rocket (Marc Campbell) from post three.
The Atlantic Sires Stakes two-year-old trotters return in race 11 for another $13,380 pot with West River Karuna the 5-2 morning line favourite from post three for driver Ken MacDonald, trainer Clare MacDonald and owner Haley MacDonald of Stratford, P.E.I. The Legion Of Honor-Pannacotta Hanover filly takes on the likes of Dusty Lane Margo (Jason Hughes) from post four and Bonmati (MacPherson) from post five.
The three-year-old trotters take their turn in race six for the first $12,900 division, where Oceanview Nikki gets top billing as the 5-2 morning line favourite from post two for trainer/driver Michael McGuigan and P.E.I. owners Blue Diamond Racing of Emyvale, Josh MacDonald of Little Pond and Gordon Coles of Charlottetown. The E L Rocket-King Kong Kate filly has been a model of consistency all season. Her top rivals are Dibsonthecaptain (Corey MacPherson) from post four and Dusty Lane Kahlua (Ryan Desroche) from post three.
Race eight has the second $12,900 sophomore trot split with Supreme Rockette favoured at 5-2 from post three for trainer/driver Mike McGuigan and owner Jamie Whalen of Avondale, P.E.I. The E L Rocket-Supreme Monarch filly will battle West River Jet (Ken MacDonald) from post four and My Pocket Rocket (Ken Murphy) from post two.
The Wednesday program also has a strong supporting cast of events including the Parkdale Homecoming in race one, the Maryjane Arsenault Memorial in race three, the Joe Smallwood Memorial in race four, the Roddy & Phyllis MacLeod Memorial in race five, the Confederation M&A Pace in race seven, the Rocket Chief Harvey & Randy MacEachern Memorial in race nine, the Angus & Buddy MacKenzie Memorial in race 10 and the PC Party of PEI Pace in race 12.
