MN Gov. Signs Gaming Legislation
On Friday, May 4, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton signed legislation which will allow Canterbury Park and the Running Aces Harness Park to increase their table-gaming offerings
.
According to a report by shakopee.patch.com, officials have stated that the increased table gaming will lead to much higher purses at the tracks --- in the case of Canterbury Park, the purses could rise 40 per cent.
“While this legislation will not solve the revenue problems the industry faces, it is an important step in the right direction for Minnesota horse racing," Canterbury Park President and CEO Randy Sampson was quoted as saying.
"We are grateful the Legislature and Governor recognized the current, fragile state of horse breeding and horse racing in Minnesota and provided new tools we can use to strengthen our business and enhance purses."
