Post Parade Accident Mars Clinton Card

Clinton Raceway has issued an update following an accident that occurred during the post parade of Race 3 on Sunday, July 27.
During the pre-race warmup, Read The Proposal collided with Wheretobuddyboy, who was on the track preparing for Race 6. Both horses sustained significant cuts as a result of the collision. Thankfully, both horses have since left the track and returned home, and are hopeful to make a full recovery.
Drivers Dan Clements and Gerald Manneke, who were involved in the incident, were reported to be stiff and sore but otherwise in good condition. Neither required hospitalization.
Clinton Raceway extends its appreciation to the attending track personnel and veterinary team for their swift response and care. The safety of horses and drivers remains top priority.
In racing action, Real Wicked won the featured $4,500 Sam Taylor Memorial Pace. Fourth on the final turn, he soared late for Travis Henry and out-kicked favourite Better Than Crush (Nick Steward) to win the conditioned event by a neck in 1:58.4. My Pet Monster (Louis Gregg) finished third.
Real Wicked's win was his first of the season in 17 starts for trainer Michelle Sherman. She co-owns the son of Big Bad John-Real Ravishing with Troy Cochrane, Martwest Racing Stable, and Dave Simpson. The 11-year-old gelding has won 39 of his 317 lifetime appearances and has earned $310,049. He paid $9.30 to win.
