American Risk Triples In Top Truro Pace

American Risk winning at Truro Raceway

American Risk overcame his outside post assignment on Friday, July 25 and defeated Truro Raceway's top pacers for the third time in the past two weeks.

Driver Robert Laffin was back in the bike and sent American Risk to the lead from post six in the $2,500 Winners Over Handicap Pace, just like he did five days ago. Three-wide into the first turn, American Risk crossed to command despite early interference and led the way through fractions of :27.1, :56.3 and 1:26.2. The even-money favourite then held off the late charging Bettor On Than Off (Keith Legge), who closed wide from the back of the pack, and first-over challenger Like A Glove (Noah Whebby) in a blanket finish for the 1:55.3 victory. His winning margin was a quarter of a length with the top five within 1-1/2 lengths. Fifth Estate (Ernie Laffin) shot up the inside for fourth with Crime Boss (Kenny Parker) between foes as he grabbed the final paycheque.

Trained by George Rennison for the Truro-based Risky Bizz Group, American Risk now boasts seven wins in 11 starts this season. The nine-year-old American Ideal-Kissing Bandit gelding has won 49 races and more than $145,000 lifetime.
