Longtime horseman Gerald Abbott McGinn of Stony Plain, Alta. passed away on July 5, 2025, a few weeks shy of his 89th birthday, surrounded by his loving family.

Gerald was a man of immense stature and wisdom. He had a great love for his family, friends and community. His impact was substantial and influence significant. Gerald's family has always been in awe of his accomplishments and extremely proud of the man he was.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie (Fuhr) McGinn; children, Terry and wife late Karen (Cook), Dianna (Wiebe) and spouse Darryl, and Sheila (Hancock) and spouse Guy; grandchildren, Jesselle and spouse Nigel, Lindsay and spouse Stephanie, Graig, Scott, Daniel, Jason and Kaitlyn; great grandchildren, the late Tia Bissoondatt, Skyla and Asher Wiebe; brother and sister-in-law, Wilfred and Dorothy (Mohr) McGinn; and sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jim Walker.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Marion (Pound) McGinn; sister, Evelyn Riedlinger (McGinn); brother, Denver McGinn; and sister-in-law, Kay (Strayer) McGinn. On his wife’s side, he was predeceased by In-laws, Phillip and Theresa (Miller) Fuhr; brothers-in-law, Richard Fuhr and John Fuhr; and sister-in-law, Marlene (Nernberg) Fuhr.

A service and Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Heritage Park, located at 5100-41 Ave. in Stony Plain, Alta.
