Light My Shadow Takes Inverness Spotlight

Light My Shadow

Light My Shadow prevailed by a head to complete a front-end mission in the Winners Over feature at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday, July 16 for his second win in the track’s top class of the year.

The gelding defended rail positioning for Walter Walker, pocketing the firing Sunshine Lou (Campbell MacIsaac), and led through a :28.2 first quarter in the $2,000 contest. He raced unopposed through the half in :57 and created space between him and his rivals as Talk Some Smack (Danny Gillis), aiming for his third straight Winners-Over score, advanced first-over.

Light My Shadow held a 2-1/2-length advantage through three-quarters in 1:28, but Talk Some Smack moved into striking range as they straightened for home. In a two-horse race down the stretch, Talk Some Smack surged late but missed by a head as Light My Shadow hung on to win in 1:57. Lofty Shadow (Ardon Mofford) was best of the rest. The winner returned $9.40.

Light My Shadow has won twice in four starts this year at Inverness since shipping in from Western Canada for Inverness, N.S.-based owners Angela MacArthur and Zach Mullins, who trains the gelding. The six-year-old son of Shadow Play-Carlota Blue Chip is 25-for-115 lifetime with $128,450 in earnings.
