Matching Miles By Green Manalishi S Fillies In OSS

Green Manalishi S offspring Bingo Night and Flowing Tribute were each 1:54.4 winners in the two $90,000 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold events for two-year-old trotting fillies on Friday, July 11 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. It was the first Gold event of the year in this division.
In the first Gold event, overwhelming 2-5 favourite Bingo Night (pictured above) overcame an overland trip, parked the entire mile and still managed to pull away in the stretch to post a career-best victory to remain undefeated through two lifetime starts.
Tyler Jones drove the homebred daughter out of Cant Stop Tommi to victory in the field of six for his father, trainer and co-owner Dustin Jones of Hamilton, Ont., who shares Bingo Night’s breeding and owning credits with Hebert Horses Inc. of Montreal, Que. Sjoblom Racing Inc. of Delray Beach, Florida is also a part-owner.
Tyler Jones told Woodbine’s Chad Rozema in the winner’s circle that he was impressed with Bingo Night’s effort, but much less impressed with his drive.
“That was disgusting on my part, to be honest,” said Jones of his drive. “I was just trying to be easy on her to get in the first turn and Louis [Roy, driving Lo And Behold] had a little struggle with his filly and I had to wait for him to kind of bear out of the way. Then, by the time that happened, there was no options left for me, and I just had to kind of creep forward and creep forward. All credit to the filly. That was unbelievable.”
Jones said he was purposely being careful with Bingo Night off the gate because she’s a two-year-old trotting filly making only her second pari-mutuel start.
“If you push her off the gate and she springs and then she makes a break, then I look like a fool,” he said. “It was my idea just take my time and get [to the front] when I get there. And I never did, but we got there at the wire.”
Canukeepasecret (Jody Jamieson) led the field to the :28 quarter, but Barbara May (Doug McNair) took over, with Bingo Night parked in second, as the field hit the half in :57.2 and the three-quarters in 1:26.
Bingo Night took the lead in the stretch and won by 3-1/2 lengths.
At the wire, a photo for place determined Very Sassy (Todd Ratchford) edged out Cupid Hall (Rick Zeron). There was also a photo for fourth, with Barbara May getting to the wire inches in front of Canukeepasecret.
Bingo Night now has earnings of $53,000.
In the second Gold event, the battle was essentially between the 6-5 favourite, M E Laurel with Louis-Philippe Roy in the bike, and 3-1 Flowing Tribute in rein to four-time Friday night winner Bob McClure. The latter took the lead in the first turn after both Twin B Showbiz (Jody Jamieson) and Social Wizard (Tyler Borth) made early breaks. M E Laurel was parked early, but Roy moved her to the front with authority not long after Flowing Tribute hit the quarter in :28.1.
M E Laurel took the field of seven through the :57.3 half and the 1:27 three-quarters with McClure sitting patiently in second with Flowing Tribute. Turning for home, Flowing Tribute popped out of the pocket and accelerated to a 2-1/4-length victory. M E Laurel held for second and Cher Hill (Doug McNair) followed in third.
Flowing Tribute, a filly out of Watch The Show, was victorious in her career debut.
Flowing Tribute was bred by Diane Ingham of Mount Pleasant, Ont., and Brenda Barnim of St. George Brant, Ont. The Paul Reid trainee is owned by Patrick Dillion of Port Hope, Ont., Laurie Rooney of Deleon Spring, Florida, Brian Kleinberg of Madison, New Jersey and Richard Beinhauer of Venetia, Pennsylvania. The group purchased Flowing Tribute for $30,000 at the 2024 London Classic Yearling Sale.
Later on the card in the $36,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace, Caviar N Crackers lowered her lifetime mark to 1:49.3 for the driving and training team of Ed and Ashleigh Hensley.
The Hensley's own the five-year-old Captive Audience-Crackers Hot Shot mare, who unleashed :26.1 final quarter speed after the race fractions went in :27, :55.2 and 1:22.4 to put away pacesetter Blue Pacific (Doug McNair) and record her 19th career win. The 4-5 favourite won by a length over fellow late-closers Angostura Hanover (Trevor Henry) and Bluemea Kiss (James MacDonald).
In other overnight racing action going for a purse of $15,000, the favoured Rick Zeron trainee Miss Chantilly N ($4.70) and driver Doug McNair won in 1:51.1 to kick off a Pop-Up Series for female pacers that are non-winners of $25,000 in a minimum of 10 starts in 2025. Starters for a purse of $10,000 or less in their last race were also eligible.
