My Debt Collector Looks To Cash In At Monticello
The New York Sire Stakes return to Monticello Raceway on Monday, July 14 with three-year-old trotting fillies taking the stage with two divisions of Sire Stakes and two splits of the Excelsior.
The Sire Stakes purses are worth $58,000 USD and $56,900 USD to along with two $20,000 USD Excelsior dashes.
The reigning queen of her division is My Debt Collecter. A winner last year on Aug. 19 in Sire Stakes competition at Monticello, she's the 7-5 morning line choice in the second division, carded as Race 10.
My Debt Collecter is the leading point earner in her class and has drawn post position two with regular pilot Tyler Buter in the bike. In nine starts this year, she has finished in the top three every start with five wins — including four NYSS events — three seconds and a third. The offspring of Chapter Seven – Magic Presto is trained by Nifty Norman for owners David McDuffee, Melvin Hartman and Little E LLC and has lifetime earnings of $591,785.
Her main competition may come from Pink Bomb (PP3, Jason Bartlett, 3-1). The John Butenschoen trainee has won four of seven starts this year, including a Sire Stakes at Saratoga on May 18, and has compiled $167,081 in earnings. She is owned by Crawford Farms Racing and Heather Marshall.
The other Sire Stakes dash goes postward in the afternoon's second race. Royal Mission, a winner of last year’s $304,054 NYSS final, has drawn post four in the five-horse field in her division. The 5-2 morning line choice is trained by Marcus Melander for longtime Standardbred patron Jeff Snyder and gets the driving services of Brett Beckwith.
Royal Mission won the NYSS on May 26 at Vernon Downs in 1:54, a new lifetime mark, and has earned $97,370 this year with one win in her five starts.
Chapvious (PP5, Bartlett, 3-1) earned her lifetime mark of 1:56.3 in overnight competition in her last start at Vernon Downs. The Devious Man sophomore is trained by George Ducharme for Purple Haze Stables LLC.
The consistent Inn Of The Stars (PP2, Buter, 7-2) has the leading driver in the NYSS once again handling the driving assignment. The well-bred Chapter Seven – Mets Inn filly scored in a Sire Stake race in 1:58 at Buffalo and finished second (by a neck) in an Excelsior contest last start at Goshen.
First post time for the 10-race card is 12:10 p.m.
