Talk Some Smack Goes Back-To-Back At Inverness

Talk Some Smack

Talk Some Smack took his second straight Winners Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday, July 9, this time wiring the field for his fifth victory of the year.

The gelding was in front by the first turn for Danny Gillis but soon had company as the parked-out Light My Shadow (Zach Mullins) charged forward to the quarter in :30.1. Talk Some Smack hung him out, and those two battled to the half in :58.1 when Light My Shadow began to show signs of wear.

With his first-over foe dispatched, Talk Some Smack took a breather to three-quarters in 1:29.2 and entered the stretch on top. None of his rivals were able to make progress down the lane as the gelding cruised home to win the $2,000 dash by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:59.1. Lofty Shadow (Ardon Mofford) finished second after pocket-tripping, followed by Whats Up Doc (Redmond Doucet).

Talk Some Smack racked up his fifth win in seven starts this year for owner-trainer Kevin MacDonald of Port Hood, N.S. The six-year-old son of Artspeak-Astraean has won 11 of 91 career appearances and earned $22,983.
