Dumouchel, Henry Double Up In OSS Grassroots

Trainer Francis Dumouchel doubled up in the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Tuesday (July 8) including winning one of the four $25,000 divisions in the swiftest time with Dr Dave.

Dr Dave (Travis Henry) buzzed to the top from post five, opening up by 1-3/4 lengths at the :26.4 quarter and :56 half. The Dumouchel student kept on going to lead by 3-1/4 lengths at the three quarters in 1:24.2 before scoring by 1-1/4 lengths at the wire in 1:52.1. Better Script (James MacDonald) zoomed home from eighth to take second and Run To The Hills (Bob McClure) was third.

Francis Dumouchel co-owns the freshman Cattlewash - Mystic Dance gelding with Jenna McNiven Stdbrd Ltd. for his first win in his first start. Dr Dave paid $6.40 to win.

Dumouchel and Henry combined again to win the second division with Twin B John B by a half length in 1:54.2. The gelded son of Cattlewash and the Sportswriter mare Twin B Fabulous is owned by breeder Twinbrook Limited as he won his first race in his first start of his career. He paid $10 to win.

In the first division, Brindle took command after the opening panel and never looked back, scoring by 2-3/4 lengths in 1:53.2 with Jody Jamieson holding the lines. Bred by David Willmot and Clay Harland Horner, Brindle is a two-year-old son of Bulldog Hanover and the Western Ideal mare Cabrini Hanover trained by Dr. Ian Moore and owned by Brindle Stable. He paid $2.50 to win in his career debut.

Redland Rocket Man completed the OSS Grassroots Series action for the evening, winning his second race in his second start with a 1:53.2 victory piloted by Bob McClure for John Pentland. Pentland co-owns the Bulldog Hanover - Granny Hanover colt with Murray Cox and Gary Volpe. He paid $2.50 to win.

Beach Cowboy ($7.40) won the $16,000 Pop Up Series Final by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:52.3 with Jonathan Drury holding the lines for trainer Carmen Auciello.
