Arsenault Hits 1,000 Win Mark At Red Shores
Veteran horseman Kenny Arsenault scored a training and driving double on Saturday, July 5 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, lifting him to the 1,000 win plateau as a trainer.
Jack Wick ($27.90) got the party started for the 65-year-old Charlottetown horseman with a 1:58 win in the opener, then Hippyjohn ($27.00) delivered the milestone win in the ninth race after a 1:56 first-over bid.
The East Coast domination continued for Save America on the Saturday afternoon program.
Under the command of Ken Murphy in the $5,500 Preferred Pace, Save America ($2.20) blasted to the lead at a :26.2 opening panel and led through splits of :54.2 and 1:22.4. The five-year-old son of Captaintreacherous scored an 8-3/4 length victory in 1:51 flat to defeat Blood Money (Gilles Barrieau) and Middleton Terror (David Dowling). Jamie Smith trains the winner for Thestable.ca.
Rockin Novel ($4.50) and driver Marc Campbell were the best in the Provincial Credit Union Pace in the sixth with a 1:56.2 victory for trainer Roy Reynolds and owner Reynolds Racing of Murray River.
Trainer Adam Merner doubled on the card as he drove Sports Teller ($5.90) to a 1:53.3 score in Race 11 then Pendleton Rodeo ($2.80) won the finale in 1:54.4.
