Powered By Mach Powers To Another Tioga Victory

Powered By Mach

Powered By Mach took her third win in her past four starts since moving to Tioga Downs in the $13,014 conditioned feature for fillies and mares on Friday, July 4.

Jim Pantaleano procured the pocket for Powered By Mach, who buckled in for the ride as Aint She Pretty (Mike Merton) meted out sectionals of :27, :57, and 1:25.1 on the front. As they reached the stretch, Powered By Mach ($4.40) charged out of the pocket and strode past Aint She Pretty, winning by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:54.2. Villannah (Tom Merton) got by the tiring pacesetter in the stretch for second. Aint She Pretty finished third.

Powered By Mach earned her third victory this year all at Tioga in 18 trips for trainer Frank Calcagni and owner Fox Racing Inc. The eight-year-old Mach Three-Power Outage mare has racked up career totals of 29 wins and $361,298 in earnings in 167 starts.

There were also six divisions of the Jim McDonald Memorial Claiming Series first leg three $13,014 contests for $17,123 claimers, and three for a purse of $10,959 and a tag of $10,274. The upper-level winners were Hard Workin Man ($27.60) for driver Dan Rawlings and trainer Jose Godinez in 1:53, Cheese Omelet ($15) for Rawlings and Mike Austin in 1:53.2, and Last Goodbye ($4.50) for Pantaleano and Joe Pavia Jr. in 1:52.4.
