Speed Away Repeats in Harrington Open

Breakaway Racing and Yorwollohan Racing Team's Speed Away ($5.40, Corey Callahan) continued his Harrington Raceway dominance with a 1:55.4 triumph in the $24,658 Open Handicap Trot on Wednesday, July 2.
Swan Flyer (Allan Davis) led through fractions of :28.2, :57.3 and 1:26.1 before some live outer flow developed with Speed Away, previously second-over, fanning three-wide in the stretch and hitting the wire first by a half-length over Swan Flyer and Lizzy Lauxmont (Cody Poliseno).
Speed Away has won his last four starts at Harrington, all in Open company, and is five-for-nine overall this season with just one loss at the track. Nick Callahan trains the seven-year-old Father Patrick-All The Time gelding who has now won 22 of 86 career starts and earned $433,548.
Corey Callahan had a driving triple on the card.
Live racing will now go on a customary summer hiatus, which will be interrupted by a night of racing during the Delaware State Fair on July 17 (post time 5 p.m.) featuring more than $600,000 USD in total purses. The card is highlighted by the $110,000 USD finals for the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund three-year-olds, in addition to longstanding races for older horses like the Governor’s Cup, Charles Murphy Memorial Trot, and Legislator's Cup.
