Talk Some Smack Walks The Walk At Inverness

Talk Some Smack

Talk Some Smack earned the first top-level win of his career as he captured the Winners Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday, July 2.

The gelding dropped into fourth early for Danny Gillis but moved off the pylons just past the quarter in :29.3 in the $2,000 featured event. He soon caught cover when Shir Gain (Rod Gillis) popped the pocket as they turned for the stands, and he took the tow through the half in :59. Shir Gain waved the white flag on the backstretch, forcing Talk Some Smack to tip three-wide and chase down loose leader Bettie White (Zach Mullins), who reached three-quarters in 1:28.2.

Talk Some Smack gained quickly on the final turn and grinded past the leader in the stretch to prevail by a length in 1:57.3, a new seasonal mark. Bettie White settled for second with Lofty Shadow (Ardon Mofford) finishing third.

Talk Some Smack improved to four-for-six on the season for owner-trainer Kevin MacDonald of Port Hood, N.S. The six-year-old Artspeak-Astraean gelding has tallied 10 wins in 90 career starts and has earned $22,083. His backers received $4.70 for a $2 win ticket.
