Canada's Leading Racehorses At The Half

With the first half of the 2025 harness racing season in the books, Trot Insider takes a look at some of the top performing Standardbreds in Canada in the wins, earnings and speed categories.
Five-year-old pacing mare Beach Myst leads all racehorses with the most wins in Canada so far in 2025, boasting 13 victories from 19 starts. Beach Myst has racked up her wins competing in the Western Canada claiming ranks at Century Mile, Century Downs and Fraser Downs for trainers Travis Ellis and Rebecca Kanak. The daughter of Mystician ranks second in all of North America, tied with Pennsylvania-based trotter Chapolier and two off pacing mare Overthemoonforyou, who leads with 15 wins between California and Minnesota.
Tied for second in Canada, top winning trotter Royalty Beer and pacing mare Wifey Said So have each won 10 races. Campaigned by Jean-Francois and Kevin Maguire, Royalty Beer has earned the majority of his wins in Preferred competition on the Ontario 'B' track circuit while Wifey Said So has enjoyed much of her success in the claiming ranks at Woodbine Mohawk Park for the Jodie Cullen stable.
Trained by Ron Burke, Louprint leads all horses for earnings so far this year having amassed $525,000 from just two starts in Canada, with the three-year-old Sweet Lou colt sweeping his $50,000 elimination and the million-dollar final of the North America Cup on June 14 at Mohawk.
North America Cup runner-up Madden Oaks ranks second with $246,660 in seasonal earnings accumulated north of the border for the Cameron Capone stable while the David Menary-trained five-year-old pacer Brue Hanover sits third with $221,420 amassed in large part from a perfect nine-for-nine Mohawk record, including victories in the $100,000 Mohawk Gold Cup Invitational, New Holland Pacing Series and Preferreds.
Louprint's 1:47.1 winning time in the North America Cup not only stands as the fastest time of the season but also the fastest time ever by a three-year-old in Canada.
Seven-year-old gelding The Light Speed is Canada's fastest pacer on a five-eighths-mile track this year courtesy of his 1:50.3 victory in a Preferred at Rideau Carleton Raceway on May 14 for trainer Guy Gagnon.
Trained by Luc Blais, four-year-old Calicojack Hanover holds the national season's record for pacers on a half-mile track courtesy of back-to-back 1:50.2 miles at Flamboro Downs from a Charles Juravinski Memorial Cup elimination on May 11 and the final on May 18.
The season's fastest trotters also now share the all-age Canadian trotting record. Emoticon Legacy, a sophomore Walner colt also trained by Blais, won the Goodtimes Stakes in 1:50.2 on June 14 at Mohawk and the Eric Nadeau-trained seven-year-old Archangel gelding Fashion Frenzie equalled that time two days later in a Mohawk Preferred.
Hailing from the Garry Merner stable, five-year-old gelding Dahlquist Hanover's 1:54.1 mile in a Preferred 2 on June 16 at Grand River Raceway stands as the season's trotting record for a five-eighths-mile track in Canada.
The fastest trotting winner on a half-mile track is 10-year-old gelding Treasured Tee, who was a 1:54.3 winner on May 17 at Flamboro Downs for the Francis Guillemette stable.
