Logan Park Returns A Winner In Mohawk Preferred

Making his first pari-mutuel start since shipping overseas to Solvalla for the Elitloppet last month, Logan Park returned to Canadian soil in style, leading every step of the way in the $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, June 30.
With Doug McNair in the bike, Logan Park rocketed forward from the outside post six, swooping around Fashion Frenzie (Louis Philippe-Roy) before reaching the quarter pole first in :26.1. McNair tapped the brakes on the backstretch, reaching the halfway mark in :55.4 as Gaines Hanover (Bob McClure) pulled first-over from third. McNair popped the plugs on Logan Park around the final turn as he and Gaines Hanover reached three-quarters as a team in 1:23.3.
The two continued to slug it out in the stretch, with Logan Park continuing to hold Gaines Hanover at bay at his saddle pad. Trotting home in :27.2, Logan Park gamely fought to the wire first in 1:51 by three parts of a length over Gaines Hanover. Fashion Frenzie held for third.
Trained by Kyle Fellows for Outofthepark Stable of Rockwood, Ont., Reg Higgs of Blenheim, Ont., and Arpad Szabo of Bradford, Ont., Logan Park earned his 40th career victory. The seven-year-old gelded son of Archangel-Rite Outa The Park has won four of five starts on the year and boasts a gaudy career bankroll of $2,084,697. Perfect in his four Canadian Preferred starts this season, the two-time O'Brien Award divisional champion paid $4 to win as the even-money favourite.
The Monday night finale provided its fair share of fireworks as well, with Ricky Resolve ($11.50) and Jody Jamieson overcoming post 10 and never seeing the pylons to take the $30,000 Pop-Up Series final for trotters that were non-winners of $30,000 in 2025. Trained by Mark Johnson, Ricky Resolve got the better of a three-horse photo over Myretirementdream (Tyler Borth) and Peso Hanover (James MacDonald) in a career best 1:53.1.
Dahlquist Hanover ($5.60) and James MacDonald went first-over en route to a 3-3/4-length romp in 1:52.1 in the $16,000 consolation for trainer Garry Merner.
