Canadian Harness Racing's Leaders At The Half

As the 2025 Canadian harness racing season hits the halfway point, Trot Insider takes a look at the drivers and trainers leading the way.
After taking the lead in the driver standings during the first quarter of the 2025 campaign, Austin Sorrie continues to lead all drivers this year for wins on Canadian soil. Last week, the 2020 Future Star Award winner became the first driver top the 200-win mark in the nation this year and with 209 wins as of press time he ranks ninth among all drivers across North America.
James MacDonald, four-time reigning Driver of the Year, sits second in the win column with 179 and is the leader for earnings as he's driven horses to $3,246,445 in Canadian races.
Daryl Thiessen rounded the top three sulky-sitters for wins with 168 visits to victory lane while the top three money-earners include Louis-Philippe Roy ($2,453,502) and Doug McNair ($2,285,815).
Guy Gagnon shot to the top of the standings for UDRS with an impressive 0.470 at the mid-season mark as he overtook first-quarter leader Brandon Campbell, whose 0.442 is currently second best. Marc Campbell's 0.384 UDRS checks in third.
Jodie Cullen, Canada's winningest trainer in 2024, leads all trainers in the nation with 117 victories and $1,489,253 in earnings so far this year. She is the only trainer with more than 100 wins on Canadian soil at the midway point of the season and ranks sixth best North America wide.
Francis Guillemette has sent out winners of 81 races to rank second and Gerard Demers has 72 victories in third.
Joining Cullen in topping the million-dollar mark for seasonal stable earnings, David Menary ($1,270,026) and Gregg McNair ($1,112,054) rank second and third in the money category.
Mandy Archer has taken over the top spot for UTRS at 0.465, with early leader Menary now second at 0.462. Guy Gagnon's 0.423 training average places him third.
