Century Downs Canada Day Celebrations On Monday

Century Downs Racetrack and Casino will be hosting Canada Day celebrations during its harness racing card on Monday, June 30 with an unforgettable evening of family-friendly fun, live entertainment and patriotic pride followed by a dazzling fireworks show to close out the night.
The nine-race card will feature Alberta's top Standardbreds in the $16,000 Preferred with Western Canada's fastest pacer Shark Week, trained and driven by the father and son team of Rod and Mike Hennessy, looking to rebound after a pair of losses to Midnight Mover and Tin Can Timmy in recent weeks. Shark Week, the 2-1 morning line favourite in the fifth race feature, will start from post four in the field of half a dozen with his two main threats drawing inside posts.
Attendees can enjoy complimentary White Claw & City & Country samples, a specially curated Canadian menu at the Derby Restaurant and upbeat music from a live DJ. The Alberta Standardbred Horse Association will be on site with an ice cream truck and bouncy castle, and face painters will keep the little ones entertained. After the races, attendees can head to the event tent for a free, high-energy live performance by Silly Wrabbit, followed by a fireworks show to cap off the night in true patriotic fashion.
Post time is 6:15 p.m. with Silly Wrabbit to follow the last race. The fireworks show will start at approximately at 11 p.m.
The event is free to attend and there will be plenty of free parking for guests.
