Century Downs Dachshund Dash Returns Saturday

Century Downs entrance

Century Downs will be hosting its second annual Dachshund Dash following its Saturday, June 21 stakes program.

The family-friendly event will bring the community together for a fun-filled day of racing and entertainment and help raise awareness and support for local charities like Alberta Dachshund Rescue and Parachutes For Pets.

Guests can enjoy thrilling live Standardbred horse racing, sip on complimentary samples from Screaming Retriever Brewing Company and Happy Dogs Wine and indulge in a specialty hot dog menu at the track's BBQ station. A live DJ will keep the energy high throughout the afternoon, while a 50/50 draw hosted by Alberta Dachshund Rescue and the You Thrifty Animal pet shop pop-up by Parachutes For Pets offer exciting ways to support great local pet charities. The afternoon concludes with the crowd favourite Dachshund races, featuring prize baskets for the top three finishers, courtesy of Petland.

Post time for the harness racing program is 12:45 p.m. (MDT), with the 10-race card featuring the $90,000 Moore's Mile Breeders Stakes for three-year-old pacing colts and the $118,000 Shirley McClellan Breeders Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies. The Dachshund races will follow at approximately 4:10 p.m. (MDT).
