Light My Shadow Upsets Top Pacers At Inverness

Nova Scotia newcomer Light My Shadow upset Inverness Raceway's top pacers, winning the Winners Over Pace on Sunday, June 15.
An 23-time winner in Western Canada, Light My Shadow earned his first East Coast victory, leading wire-to-wire in the afternoon's $2,000 featured finale for an enthusiastic Zach Mullins. The Shadow Play-Carlotta Blue Chip gelding took control from the innermost post and set fractions of :28.3, :57.3 and 1:27.3 en route to the 1:57.3 victory by 4-1/4 lengths. Recent top class winners in the province, Windemere Best Man (Redmond Doucet) and American Risk (Andrew Campbell) finished second and third, respectively.
After being acquired at the end of his 2024 campaign by trainer/driver Zach Mullins and local co-owner Angela MacArthur, Light My Shadow was a fifth-place finisher as the favourite in his Nova Scotia debut two weeks ago. He was sent postward at odds of 8-1 in his second attempt and returned $19 for the upset.
The six-year-old pacer, with a mark of 1:52.4 taken at Fraser Downs, has accumulated $127,550 in lifetime earnings.
