Save America Dominates Preferred; Campbell Triples

Save America was sent on a front-end mission in his Saturday, June 14 assignment at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The former Gold Cup and Saucer entrant left alertly from post five in the $5,500 Preferred Pace and took over the lead from Island Beach Boy (Jason Hughes) at the quarter in :26.3. Driver Ken Murphy then smashed down fractions of :54.1 and 1:23.1 on his way to a 1:51 final time for Save America ($2.20), who was 4-1/4 lengths the best over Island Beach Boy in second and Blood Money (Gilles Barrieau) in third. Jamie Smith trains the winning five-year-old son of Captaintreacherous-My Lady Day for owner Thestable.ca.
Trainer Landon Campbell won three races on the card, all in combination with driver Marc Campbell. The latter drove Big Pond Cash ($26.50) to a 1:55.1 lifetime best, won with First Glance ($3.60) in 1:54.4, then closed out the card with Jewels Dragon ($3.50) in 1:56. Marc Campbell also scored with Bentley ($3.40) for trainer John Clarey.
Kenny Arsenault doubled up from his Charlottetown stable on the card as the veteran horseman steered Hippyjohn ($4) to victory in The Freemason’s Pace (Race 5) in a 1:58.1 clocking, and his trainee Redlandxtinguisher ($12.30) was a winner in line to Mark Bradley in Race 2.
Trainer Luke Burke scored two wins with The Big Chase ($33.60) in 1:58.4 and One Rock ($2.10) in 1:57.2. Corey Macpherson supplied the winning steer for both pacers.
