Quickaway Now The Quickest Two-Year-Old

Thirteen can't be an unlucky number for trainer Blake MacIntosh.
Triskaidekaphobia relates to extreme superstition regarding the number 13. So what are the odds that MacIntosh sent out 13 two-year-olds during the 13-dash qualifying session on Friday the 13th of June at Woodbine Mohawk Park?
MacIntosh sent out the most rookies during the Friday session of baby races and, as the odds would have it, his pupils prevailed in more races than those of any other conditioner.
The most notable performance of the morning came courtesy Quickaway, a two-year-old son of American Ideal out of the Roddys Bags Again mare Logans Girl. The product of Winbak Farm made his second appearance of the season and stamped himself as the fastest freshman of 2025 as of press time with a wire-to-wire 1:53.2 effort, towing driver Trevor Henry to an 18-length decision over Rikki Rocket (Gino Toscani).
Victorious in both of his qualifying efforts thus far, Quickaway is owned by Ozzie MacKay of Moncton, N.B., Gilles Landry of Dieppe, N.B. and Robert MacNeil of Brossard, Que. The bay colt was a $40.541 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale purchase.
MacIntosh also sent out pacing colt Je Ne Sais Quoi (1:56.3; Doug McNair up) and trotting colt Beau Knight (1:58.4 for James MacDonald) to lead all conditioners with three wins on the day.
That trotting mile for Beau Knight was the fastest mile for trotters until the penultimate dash of the morning when Captain Micah uncorked a 1:58.3 effort on debut for trainer Desiree Jones and driver-owner Gino Toscani. Making every call a winning one, Captain Micah was 4-1/2 lengths better than another MacIntosh pupil, Northern Genius (Tyler Borth).
A son of Captain Corey - Broadway Chuckles bred by Red Well Stables LLC, Captain Micah was purchased at Lexington for $35,135.
