Last season's Kentucky Championship Series winner Aperfect Annie took her sophomore bow in the $27,397 Open 2 Trot at Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel on Tuesday, June 10 and easily vanquished older competition to find the winner's circle with a 1:54.2 effort as the even-money favourite.

Starting from the pylon post, driver Marvin Luna settled into fifth with Aperfect Annie while Ordained (Devon Tharps) thrusted forward from post eight to take the lead into a :27.1 first quarter with Bridge To Victory (Marcus Miller) finding the pocket. Luna waited to fish cover passing the stands, but with no bites he pulled Aperfect Annie first up and began a march after Ordained to a :56.2 half. Aperfect Annie methodically advanced up the backstretch as Ordained maintained his speed and drew to within a length of the leader after three-quarters in 1:25.2. She grabbed the lead spinning for home and coasted under minimal encouragement to the finish while pressed home by pocket-popping Bridge To Victory, who settled for second by a length. Ordained tired to third while Bee Our Honey (Andy Shetler) sat a ground-saving trip for fourth.

A daughter of Googoo Gaagaa and Asixpakfromperfect trained by Carter Pinske, Aperfect Annie has now won four races from 11 starts and earned nearly $490,000 for owners Pinske Stables, Melvin Hartman and Andray Farm. She paid $4.12 to win.

Racing continues at Oak Grove on Monday, June 16 with the third leg of the second Kentucky Sire Stakes series. Oak Grove will also offer three days of racing next week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with the June 18 card featuring divisions of the Kentucky Proud Series as part of the Western Kentucky State Fair. First-race post time at Oak Grove is 1:25 p.m. (CDT).
