Trotting Fillies Prep For NYSS At Tioga

Tioga Downs continued with live racing action for the second day on Sunday afternoon and highlighting the 13-race card were two divisions of New York Sire Stakes prep races for three-year-old trotting fillies

In the second division, Cowgirl Hall and trainer-driver Gates Brunet showed that they are ready for the sire stakes, which are just around the corner. Leaving from post position number five, Brunet was insistent on having control of the fractions and was used twice to finally gain control at the half in :56.3. From there, Cowgirl Hall did everything she was asked trotting away impressively by more than eight lengths from the field in a new lifetime mark of 1:55.1. The daughter of Cash Hall-Centerfold Hall is owned by Theodore Gewertz, Michael Rosenthal, Y. Jean Brunet, and Deborah Brunet.

In the first division, Miss Connor stayed perfect in her young racing career by posting her second win in as many outings for trainer Chris Ryder in 1:58.2 by a head. Jim Morrill Jr. guided the Cash Hall-Emerald Seelster filly to victory for owner-breeder Northstar Standardbreds LLC of Cream Ridge, New Jersey.

Fall Bliss won the afternoon's $16,500 Open Pace, holding off Golden Terror by a neck in 1:51.4 for Morrill and trainer Scott Blackler.
