Gagnon Dominates Another Sunday Night At Rideau

Rideau Carleton Raceway's leading driver Guy Gagnon was the star of the Sunday night card once again.
Loaded with another top Sunday lineup on June 8, Gagnon won half the 10-race card and tried to top his eight-win night from a week ago but came up less than half a length short in four runner-up finishes.
Gagnon kicked off the card like he did a week ago, in the winner's circle with the John MacMillan-trained three-year-old pacing gelding Farmerdontdilydali ($2.40).
He followed up with a live catch-drive on six-year-old pacer Early Action ($2.50), dropping from the Preferred level to score for trainer Mandy Archer, and then made it three wins in a row with the Steve Belisle-trained six-year-old pacer Woodmere Gaelic ($7.10), who took a new lifetime mark of 1:54 in a close finish.
Gagnon's next successful drive was in the sixth race with five-year-old claiming pacer Beach Roller ($3.60), who will now leave the Gilbert Mercier barn on a winning note.
The highlight of his night was in race nine when his own stable's class-dropping nine-year-old Preferred regular I Ama Rocket ($2.20) won by more than nine lengths in 1:50.4, just one-fifth of a second off the track record for aged pacing geldings.
Gagnon's 2025 win count is up to 68 and he boasts a nation-leading 0.459 UDRS as he looks to top 0.400 for the ninth consecutive year.
During Sunday's races, Rideau Carleton Raceway hosted a retirement ceremony in the winner's circle for longtime Ottawa-based horseman Robbie Robinson, who announced his retirement from pari-mutuel driving earlier this spring.
