Chosson Wins Amateur Driving Debut At 3R

Summer Lovin winning at Hippodrome 3R

Franck Chosson made his driving debut a winning one in the final race of the day for amateur drivers at Hippodrome 3R on Friday, June 6.

The 54-year-old Vercheres, Que. resident celebrated his first career driving win with pacing mare Summer Lovin in the $3,250 ninth race.

The three favourites charged off the gate with Summer Lovin and Chosson to the outside from post six and parked through a :28.3 quarter before working their way to the top ahead of 2-1 shot Delco Dynamo (Roxanne Viau) and 1-2 favourite CL Big Beach (Nancy Auger), who made a first-over move with a lap to go. After splits of :57.2 and 1:27.3, Delco Dynamo shot through inside of Summer Lovin to reclaim the lead and draw clear in the final turn, but Chosson urged his mare home for the comeback, scoring in 1:57.4 by 1-1/4 lengths. Silken Sweet (Allain Pelletier) closed off the cover of CL Big Beach and edged ahead in a show photo.

A driver's objection against the winner from Auger was overruled by the racing officials.

A back-to-back winner this month at 3R since joining the Marc-Andre Simoneau stable, Summer Lovin was the 5-1 third choice on the toteboard and paid $13.50 to win.

Chosson co-owns the four-year-old daughter of Source Of Pride out of Majortempertantrum with Jean-Francois Reid.
