Harness Racing Returns To Georgian Downs This Weekend

Georgian Downs will kick off its 2025 harness racing season this weekend, starting on Saturday, June 7 with an eight-race program at 7:15 p.m.
The Innisfil, Ont. five-eighths-mile oval will host 38 race days this year, with live racing on Saturdays at 7:15 p.m., Sundays at 6 p.m. and Tuesdays at 7:15 p.m. through Aug. 30.
Georgian Downs will host its signature race, the $100,000 Honourable Earl Rowe Memorial Trot (Grade 3), on Sunday, Aug. 10, accompanied by a leg of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots Series for two-year-old filly pacers. The track will also host multiple Prospect Series legs during the summer months.
Defending driving champion Austin Sorrie will look to open the 2025 meet on a winning note with the catch-drive on 2-1 morning line favourite HP Run Detector in Saturday's featured $9,500 conditioned trot for trainer Ben Baillargeon. Claude Hamel's four-year-old Alarm Detector-Canaco Runner homebred, who took his mark of 1:55 early last month at Woodbine Mohawk Park, will be making his Georgian Downs debut in the first race.
