P.E.I. Colt Stakes To Summerside Sunday

Atlantic Canada’s top three-year-old pacers will line up in four Gold divisions of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes on a power-packed all-stakes afternoon card at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway on Sunday, May 25.
The 15-dash presentation kicks off at 1 p.m. (ADT) featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for three-year-old pacing colts and fillies.
My Happy Place will look to stay perfect in her sophomore season in the first $21,000 Gold split in the sixth race for three-year-old pacing fillies. Gilles Barrieau drives the daughter of Shadow Play from post three for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Patrick Morris of Charlottetown. A winner in 1:55.3 her last start, she faces stiff competition from Woodmere Betcha (To be driven by Adam Merner) out of post two, fresh off a 1:55.2 Turner Memorial victory in Truro for trainer Jamie Smith. Tobins Dream (David Dowling) has yet to finish worse than third this season and has the outer post six.
Race eight is the second $21,000 Filly Gold division with Mindbodyandsoul carrying morning line favourite status from post four for trainer Earl Watts and driver Marc Campbell. The Malicious filly was a 1:58.1 winner earlier this month for owners Windemere Farms, Hollis Newson, Jack Quinn and Sterling Buchanan. Woodmere Flojo (Merner) is on a two-race win streak while Badgirl Bridgette (Jason Hughes) returns to action from post five for trainer William Lanigan sporting a six-race win streak from her two-year-old season
The $19,300 Gold division for the three-year-old pacing colts lines up in Race 13 with Rosetown Eclipse the top choice from post two for driver Corey MacPherson and owners Rosetown Stable and Jim and Mike Gorman. The Turner Memorial division champ was a front-end winner in 1:59 over Truro. Phil My Beer (Campbell) leaves from post five with Like A King (Dowling) working from post seven.
The final sophomore Gold event of the day is in Race 15 for $19,300 with One Wicked Man the headliner from post three. Kenny Arsenault trains and drives for owner James Perrot of Stratford, with the colt looking to repeat his success as a 1:53.2 winner in the Turner Memorial last week at Truro. Malevolent (Paul Langille) looks for sophomore redemption from post two and Evil Lou (Mike McGuigan) will look to continue his sharp start to the season from post five.
The program also features a $7,600 P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series Gold division for Aged pacing males in Race 11, presented by Kays Wholesale.
Race 14 is a P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series Gold division for Aged mares for $7,600, presented by JD Marine and Diving Inc.
