Red Shores Announces Promos

Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park and Red Shores at Summerside are gearing up for a busy season with exciting racing series, the launch of a brand new event and distribution platforms to bring the action to a broader audience

.

The live presentation opened on April 21 at Charlottetown, while Red Shores Summerside opens on May 20. Customers and viewers on the Race Day broadcast were being teased with some announcements while management put the finishing touches to a very busy off-season before releasing the promotional plan.

The schedule includes a new event called the Red Cup Classic, presented by Lotto 649, on Saturday June 9 at Charlottetown and Sunday June 10 in Summerside. The celebration, which coincides with Lotto 649’s 30th anniversary, will feature promotional plays and draws with racing, dining, gaming along with trackside presentations with the top aged mares in the Atlantic Region performing on the cards. The divisions are presented by Red Shores and Standardbred Canada. The annual PEI Poker Challenge will host the top players in the region on that weekend too. The tournament hosts 240 players and features a prize pool of $72,000 based on a sold out event.

The team will also roll out a Drive for Charity event where 12 of the island’s top drivers will partner with sponsors to raise money for local charities. Each win will earn money toward the sponsor’s charity of choice.

The $100,000 Dash for Cash promotion has been cleared for upcoming dates in June. Customers, who purchase tickets prior to Race 9, will receive a ballot for chance to come back later in the program to correctly select the order of finish on a designated race of the night. If successful, the winner gets $100,000. The promotion is presented in part by PEI Standardbred Horse Owners Association and Prince County Horsemen’s Club.

Meridian Farms will support two new racing series this season with the Island Pacing Championship and the Erwin Andrew Memorial. An official press conference will take place on Thursday, May 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Red Shores.

Outlawpositivcharg will make his seasonal debut on Saturday night in the evening’s feature, which has been carded as Race 11.

Race fans will also be able to take in full coverage and wager on the 20-horse Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs via simulcast.
