Stonebridge Bomber Best At Tioga Saturday

Stonebridge Bomber

From out of the clouds, Stonebridge Bomber gunned down his rivals late to capture the featured $12,500 trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday, May 17.

Believer (Chuck Connor Jr.) led to the quarter in :27.3 and then slowed things down with a :30.1 second quarter to hit the half in :57.4.  Discus Hanover (Braxten Boyd) came first-up going down the backstretch and took a short lead through the 1:26.4 third station.

As they made the turn for home, Stonebridge Bomber and trainer-driver-owner Aaron Byron came flying three-wide to take the lead and fight to hold off a late charge from second-place finisher Sevenatchi (Mike Merton) to win in 1:56.3.  Discus Hanover had to settle for third.

Stonebridge Bomber is a five-year-old gelding by Muscle Mass.  Returning $13.40 to win in his second success this season, the Ontario Sires Stakes graduate now sports 12 career victories.

Braxten Boyd drove three winners on the card.  Mike Merton and Ridge Warren each had driving doubles.

Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Sunday, May 18 with a post time of 1 p.m.
