Speed Away In Full Stride At Harrington

Breakaway Racing and Yorwollohan Racing’s Speed Away extended his winning ways at Harrington Raceway on Wednesday, May 14, capturing the $25,694 Open Trot.

The seven-year-old Father Patrick–All The Time gelding overcame the outside post eight with a confident first-over move, seizing the lead near the three-quarter mark under the guidance of driver Corey Callahan. From there, Speed Away drew clear of the field to stop the clock in 1:56.4, returning $3.40. Not For Moni (Allan Davis) finished second, while Vlahos (Ross Wolfenden) rounded out the top three.

The last 10 career victories for Speed Away have come over the Harrington half-mile oval, including three wins already this season since the meet began in mid-April. Wednesday’s score also highlighted a big night for Team Callahan, as trainer Nick Callahan and driver Corey Callahan teamed up for three wins on the card.

Montrell Teague, Harrington’s defending driving champion, also had a strong showing with four wins on the evening.

On the undercard, Muscle Dynasty ($3.60) and driver Tony Morgan captured the $20,139 Winners Over Trot in 1:56.4 for trainer Walter Callahan.

Live racing continues at Harrington Raceway Monday through Wednesday, with a first post of 4:30 p.m.
