Asteroid Lands In Tioga Winner's Circle

Asteroid winning at Tioga Downs

Breeders Crown starter Asteroid and driver Tyler Miller parlayed a pocket trip into a Tioga Downs triumph, taking the $16,667 Winners Over Trot in his season's debut on Saturday, May 10.

Vinny De Vie, driven by Braxten Boyd, charged straight to the front and set fractions of :28, :57.2 and 1:25.4 with 6-5 favourite Asteroid following in the two-hole. Miller made his move with the bettors' choice around the final turn and the top two trotters battled as they reached the stretch with Asteroid pulling away late to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:55 flat. Vinny De Vie settled for second while Consus Victory and Aaron Byron followed three lengths behind in third.

Asteroid is a seven-year-old gelding by Creatine out of Ultimate Cameron. The career winner of 17 races and more than $400,000 is owned by Pollack Racing and trained by Jeff Cullipher.

Live harness racing returns to Tioga Downs on Sunday, May 11, with a post time of 1 p.m.
