Outlaw C My Shadow Completes Fraser Meet With Open Wins

Trainer Connie Kolthammer's homebred Outlaw C My Shadow closed out the Winter/Spring Meet at Fraser Downs with back-to-back victories in the $10,000 Open Pace.
Driven by Tyson Jacoby, the eight-year-old Shadow Play-Grand Slam Woman gelding followed up last week's Open victory with another on Friday, May 2 as the meet wrapped up with a 10-race card.
The featured seventh race field was scratched down to just four Open pacers with the Rick Lancaster three-time top class winner Itll Be Fine sick. Another Lancaster trainee, Rum N Raisins and driver Kelly Hoerdt fired off the gate pocketing 7-5 favourite Outlaw C My Shadow through a :26.2 opening quarter. But after middle splits of :55.3 and 1:23.3, Outlaw C M Shadow caught his rival in the shadow of the wire, kicking home in :28.4 for the 1:52.3 triumph. Tzilacatzin finished third for Brandon Campbell over Waitin Ona River and Kevin Anderson.
Outlaw C My Shadow went three-for-seven at the meet, pushing his career win count to 26 and lifetime earnings to $212,987 for Outlaw West Stable of Falun, Alta.
He paid $4.80 to win and $2.70 to place. There was no show wagering.
Driver Brandon Campbell and trainer Rebecca Kanak ran away with the meet titles. Campbell added four driving victories to his meet-leading win total, ending with 46 for an 18-win lead in the standings over Kelly Hoerdt. Campbell drove a pair of winners on the Friday card for Kanak, who completed the meet with 33 victories, 15 more than runner-up Jim Marino.
