Rollex Now Ticking Right Along

Unraced as a two-year-old, three-year pacing gelding Rollex appears to be making up for lost time.
Debuting earlier this year at Woodbine Mohawk Park with a third-place finish, Rollex ($3.40) has since rolled out a five-race win streak after his tally in the opener on Thursday, May 1 at Flamboro Downs.
Leaving from the rail for driver J.R. Plante, 3-5 choice Rollex yielded to Bettim Alive (J Harris) down the backstretch before retaking through a :29 opening quarter. From there, Plante backed down the tempo to hit the half in :59 before accelerating through a third station of 1:27.4 to repel the first-over attack of second choice Belmont Blazer (Travis Cullen). Once that foe was vanquished, Rollex stretched out his lead around the far turn and into the stretch to win by more than three lengths in a time of 1:56.3 over the track rated good.
Vogue Blue Chip (Daryl Thiessen) edged out Bettim Alive for second.
A homebred owned by trainer Tess Waxman of Ridgeville, Ont., Rollex (Sportswriter - Reinspired) now sports five wins in six sophomore starts while banking $37,290 along the way.
