Canadian Graduate Series Finals Set For Saturday

Paquet winning at Woodbine Mohawk Park

The Canadian Graduate Series finals headline live harness racing action this weekend at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

The Campbellville, Ont. oval will host 12-race programs on both Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3 with post time at 6:35 p.m.

The Saturday card features three Canadian Graduate finals for four-year-old Canadian-sired trotters and pacers (Races 2, 6 and 10).

After opening his 2025 campaign with back-to-back wins in a pair of preliminary legs, O'Brien Award finalist Paquet will be aiming for a sweep of the trotting series when he faces nine others from post two for the $81,500 final with Jody Jamieson driving for his father, Hall of Fame trainer Carl Jamieson.

The titles for separate male and female pacing divisions will be up for grabs in a pair of five-horse finals with purses of $79,000 and $78,500, respectively. Both divisions had just one preliminary leg won by the Dave Menary-trained gelding Century Komodo with driver Doug McNair and the Tony Beaton stable's distaffer Coco Jo Jo with James MacDonald in the bike. Both pacers drew inside posts in their respective finals.

Woodbine Entertainment invites local racing fans to watch and wager on the 151st Kentucky Derby at Woodbine Mohawk Park this weekend. Friday’s Thoroughbred card from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky starts at 11 a.m. and features the Kentucky Oaks, while Saturday’s Kentucky Derby card also begins at 11 a.m. The Kentucky Derby post time on Saturday is set for 6:57 p.m., landing between Mohawk's first and second live race.
