Oaxacan Dream N Dominates Distaff Pace At Buffalo

Oaxacan Dream N put the field to sleep in Buffalo Raceway's $17,361 main event for distaff pacers on Wednesday, April 23.

After a fourth-place finish on April 12 in the Open Pace for the ladies at Northfield Park, Oaxacan Dream N returned to her home base in Western New York, where she responded well to her familiar surroundings and cruised to a gate-to-wire win.

Under the guidance of driver David McNeight III, Oaxacan Dream N ($9.60) was able to establish command early, setting solid fractions of :28, :57.4, and 1:26.3. She enjoyed a comfortable 2-1/2 length lead as she turned for home, but Rightfully Mine (Kyle Swift) mounted a strong challenge, cutting the lead to just half a length at the finish. Despite the pressure, Oaxacan Dream N remained strong and held on for a half-length victory in a season's best 1:56.1. Rightfully Mine finished second, while Do Me Better (Joseph Chindano Jr.) took third.

Owned by Vogel & Wags Stable LLC and trained by Maria Rice, the nine-year-old Oaxacan Dream N (Big Jim-Verde Lima) now has three wins in 11 starts this season. The victory boosted her 2025 earnings to $44,633, bringing her lifetime earnings to $290,178.

In the $15,278 pacing event for the girls, Mary Kat (Joseph Chindano Jr.) made a thrilling late charge to the lead, edging out Major Battle (David McNeight III) by a nose in 1:58.

Major Battle set the pace with fractions of :30.1, :59.3, and 1:29.3, leading comfortably for much of the race. However, the pocket-sitting Mary Kat ($7.60) showed determination, powering home with a :28.3 final quarter to snatch victory late. Rocknroll Shelli (Kevin Cummings) rounded out the top three.

Mary Kat is owned by Lucky Label Stable LLC and trained by Taylor Fritz. This marked the fifth win in 14 starts this season for the eight-year-old mare. The win increased her 2025 earnings to $40,253, pushing her career earnings to $404,921.

Racing will continue on Friday, April 25, with a first post of 2:30 p.m., featuring an 11-race program.
