Quarrel Wins Vernon Opening Night Feature

Quarrel

Quarrel and driver Chris Long took the $11,806 featured Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Vernon Downs on opening night Saturday (April 19).

So Diva (Justin Huckabone) went straight to the front but Quarrel took the lead to hit the quarter first in :28.3. Staying With Emily (Leon Bailey) challenged for the lead heading down the backstretch, but Quarrel was first to the half in :58.4.  Kissapotamus (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) then made her bid for the lead heading around the final turn. Quarrel shook her off too and was first to three-quarters in 1:27.

As they made the turn for home, Quarrel got away and won easily in 1:55.3. So Diva came on to finish second while Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) and PL Princess C (Jeff Long) were in a dead heat for third.

Quarrel ($10.60) is a six-year-old daughter of Always B Miki - Summer Mystery, owned by Karma Racing and trained by Rob Harmon. A winner of 18 career races, Quarrel's victory was her second win this season.

Driver Justin Huckabone drove three winners on the card. Chris Long and Leon Bailey each had driving doubles. Rob Harmon and Michelle Warner had training doubles.

Live harness racing returns to Vernon on Friday (April 25) with a new post time of 5:05 p.m.
